ZK427/BS143 F/F late afternoon Weds 30/8/17

Typical Warton its the waiting for a bus scenario again...
The "late afternoon/early evening flight merchant" Tarnish 29 has struck again...
After returning from Coningsby ferrying ZK361 he's now up in ZK427/BS143 on PFAT1 (F/F).

Seen just after takeoff over Lytham area at 1735L hdg NW. Appeared to slow rapidly and main u/c doors appeared to still be open. He must have got all red indications as he has already done the supersonic run over Irish Sea typical of a first flt schedule.

ZK427 was noted earlier out on 358 flightline with ZR406/NS006. ZR406 was up on its second flt
Flown by Tarnish 5 with another sporty T/O 1552L and landed back 1659L.

Also up was rsaf Hawk Mk165 ZB121/7910 callsign Tarnish 21 (normally flies Marham CMU airtests guess not much demand for this now). T/O 1425L landed 1533L after touch & go.
Same hawk was taxied up & down main rwy 3-4 times yesterday by Tarnish 29.

Thanks Martin

Any idea how many are left to fly which are destined for the RAF?

Cheers!

First flts remaining....

11 more to fly for RAF order (ZK429-439 incl). Last RAF typhoon (Bk 25) should be ZK439/BS155 by my reckoning...

To complete the not so rosy picture...at the moment...

1x hawk Mk165 left to fly in UK (ST018/ZB118/RSAF7909);

1x hawk Mk166 left to fly (OM008/ZB130/RAFO168 already painted);

2x typhoon bk30N left to fly (NS008/ZR408/RAFO217 & NS009/ZR409/RAFO218).

Plus 24 typhoons for Qatar Emiri AF hopefully in about 5 years time?????

Cheers

Pure speculation on my behalf but always a possibility that some of the remaining RAF order could be diverted to Qatar (12 ac?). Its been done before as you know (orig German built ac to Austria, 24 RAF ac to RSAF). I thought the RAF were in no hurry for later ac with some of their earlier ac still in storage st Warton. This seems to be at odds with the number of RAF new build jets currently going through production flying and acceptance testing.

No doubt someone will correct me here and any accurate updates always welcome!
Time will tell....

Cheers

Could very well be

I seem to recall that, at one point, the RAF seemed quite eager to dump their remaining order if they could...

MOD contracts are quite the funny business at times.....

Cheers!
