Brough Centenary

Post by teeonefixer » Fri May 20, 2016 10:16 pm

The site celebrates its Centenary this year as the oldest fixed-wing production site in the world (and only a year after Westlands can claim to be the oldest now-rotary-wing site!).
Amongst the events etc. this year, a Garden party was held tonight. Spitfire SM845 (G-BUOS) was seen doing aerobatics this evening. Edit - The B-2 G-AEBJ (the site donated to the Shuttleworth collection) also put on a display.

More news later, including the Family day in September.
(STRICTLY families only)

The Families day will be held on 17th Sept and include a flying program
Unfortunately the Reds are preparing for their Far East tour, so they will do a flypast at 1:37 Thursday 25th August

The 100's watching were disappointed when the RAFAT went straight to Norwich for the Clacton shows. Hopefully they'll rearrange soon !

I haven't seen much reported for the Centenary Airshow, apart from Typhoon ZK355 "WTN09" and G-HUEY. The Anson, B-2 and Swordfish had come over from Warton as well (where they had been celebrating Heritage week). The B-2 was previously based here, of course, and Brough supply technical support for the RNHAF Swordfish, hence their appearance.
Unfortunately the Huey appeared in the takeoff run of the Blackburns Flyer 1/3-scale seaplane replica and it ended up in the flood wall bank, damaging a wing.
I'd be pleased to see a complete list.

Nowhere near the airshows of old, but there was plenty of families stuff on the ground and a good day was had by all !
