Sentinels to be scrapped

Post by RollTideUK » Sun Jun 18, 2017 9:03 pm

It appears the Sentinels luck has finally run out. They don't seem to have been in service all that long

They are not yet as far as I am aware. And the article merely states they are no longer being reprieved.

I believe the OSD was set as 2021 in the 2015 SDSR

The Sentinel was procured under an UOR need.
Does that specific UOR requirement still exist.

There's another more detailed thread about this topic here viewtopic.php?f=287&t=147771
One aircraft has already been withdrawn from use.

I can recall the original contenders at the Paris airshow in 1999, these included a version of Gulfstream 5 and the Global Express both of which were shown with an AAR capability.

As we know that never happened. Meanwhile it was the other Waddo based asset from the Queens birthday flypast that was bought as a UOR ?

EDIT Perhaps a thread merger here chaps?
