Re: Runway
The work gang has just taken members of the Lincoln City FC Team, they can't move any faster, lost their way and achieve nothing as well...
UK ONS CPI Rate checker for Sept every year...
Re: Runway
Last I heard was the eastern bypass was going back to a public inquiry or something like that.
Not bad seeing as they have been on about it, and planning then scrapping it and than returning to the idea for decades... I bet Canwick Hill is done quicker.
As for Waddington's runway if they are digging down 20 feet then they will have need of nice weather for the concrete to set.

Re: Runway
OK I`ll take that bet £50 says the runway is finished before the Eastern bypass.blackbelt wrote:Bet they could build the eastern by pass faster.
Re: Runway
if the runway and bypass are government funded ? they may well scrap both. lol
Comfortably Numb
Re: Runway
I thought that concrete would be ok if the temperature stays above freezing. Rain should not cause problems, the Romans poured concrete for port jetties under the sea.
Of course, this is another subject on which I am NOT an expert. The repairs have to be finished on schedule, 51 Sdqn will need somewhere to operate from now that RAF Mildenhall is to close. The first a/c is due for maintenance next month and it's replacement should arrive in a few weeks, presumably not to RAF Waddington.
So where will they go for the work to be done? RAF Coningsby?.

Re: Runway
Mildenhall's gonna be there for another 5 years yet, the Runway at Waddington should hopefully be done by then
Re: Runway
I wonder how good is Coningsby runway is just think moveing 40 plus Typhoons into Waddington if and when is done ???? still no site of the eastern by pass yet
Re: Runway
It'll be finished about 6 months before the announcement that the base is closing down
Re: Runway
Bad news sad to hear mildenhall closing I had know idea.So no more kc 135.?
Re: Runway
Defender ZG997 seems to have come out of Waddo for the past couple of days, been doing approaches to Humberside. I take it there is enough runway for it to operate.

An Islander/Defender only needs about 200 meters to land or take off !350biker wrote:Defender ZG997 seems to have come out of Waddo for the past couple of days, been doing approaches to Humberside. I take it there is enough runway for it to operate.
Re: Runway
Defenders haven't stopped using Waddington at all during the works, they use one taxiway, the flying club use the other, I believe. There have been several visits from different AAC ones since work began, as well as the based ones operating normally. As far as the work progress is concerned, I understand there's been some slippage to the planned timetable...
Re: Runway
...slippage to the timetable? I'm amazed. Glad to hear that there has been some aircraft movements, missed out again!
Thanks for mentioning it Mike.
On the subject of Runways, I have pictures of an Iraqi field that didn't NOTAM a maintenance repair.
I tried to copy the images to Flickr to them post them here on FC but cannot get it to work. Any ideas, folks?

Re: Runway
Middle 3000 feet of runway at Waddington is now complete. Leaving 6000 feet usable at any time so should see a few movements now.
