TP120 Prefect in service date
TP120 Prefect in service date
At the recent Lincolnshire Airspace Users Group (LAUG) meeting it was announced that the Safety Case for its operation should be complete in the near future and regular flights would commence from Barkstone Heath by the end of July. The Prefect and the Phenom would be operated by 3 FTS within the Military Flying Training System (MFTS) and 6 FTS would be made up of the UAS and AEF sectins continuing to use the Tutor. Us GA pilots were advised to watch out for the Prefect as it is a lot faster than the Tutor!

Re: TP120 Prefect in service date
Is there any news yet of Phenom deliveries? I believe there are at least two in RAF colours at the factory.
Re: TP120 Prefect in service date
Not 100%, but i think they are not due to start taking deliveries till September.

Thanks Mark. We're still waiting for news of Texans at Valley but it's gone quiet, and I expect it will remain quiet until we have our new runway.
Re: TP120 Prefect in service date
The first tranche of instructors are going to convert from the Tutor to the G120TP soon...so conversion flying should start in the near future

Re: TP120 Prefect in service date
My understanding is that Affinity are contracted to put Prefects on the line from 31 July, so expect to see Prefects on the line from that date, whether the RAF actually flies them or not is up to them. I had heard the first Phenom was due a couple of days ago but I haven't heard anything of its arrival.

Can anyone confirm which examples are currently at Barkston Heath? There were 5 in the hangar on Tuesday.
