Please Take Litter Home

Post by polecat29sqn » Fri Nov 14, 2014 8:18 am

Please can spotters make sure litter goes home with them, yesterday Myself, Milky and Flying Monster cleaned up the mound at Runway 07 end it was in a mess to say the least.

The farmer is good enough to give everyone a free run of the area least we can do is keep it tidy for him, the same goes for the 25 end not to mention the obvious danger of F.O.D. if it gets on to the airfield.

No need to reply to this, please just keep it tidy and if you see any pick it up.

Many Thanks

There was a full big black bin bag just from the mound , I don't see why we should clear other people's c--p,
Take your rubbish with you. We don't often use the mound but still cleared the litter, This also applies to the
other places around the base, We did it down Readham as well.

Hear, hear. Its not just around airfields it seems to be prevalent all over. What is it, lack of pride, laziness, anti social, all of them I think.

Bag it, bin it, take it home

I know you didn't want any replies, but in my opinion your deed at least deserves
a "well done"

I'm replying because I totally agree with what's been posted. Well done to all who have went "above and beyond" in tidying up the areas around the Airfield. Hope they never have to do it again. We are responsible for our own mess.

Well done for that guys, I assume the farmer cleared away the stuff from the fly tippers earlier this year?

There was a pile of smashed up toys, and general house type items strewn around the place :@

you see it everywhere you go, McDonalds and KFC crap scattered by scumbags. Saw the demise of Manch Apt years ago when suddenly it became fashionable to watch aircraft from Robbies airport hotel etc. :S not an easy one to tackle but if I saw anyone littering I would politely request them to take it home with them..........failure to comply would result in a stronger and painful request !!

Hopefully try and organise regular litter patrols between the locals and stay on top of the situation now we,ve tackled the worst of it.

Well done for your work guys.
It's sad that it needs to be done, but folk just so lazy these days.
It's not hard to keep hold of your rubbish until you find a bin or just take it home.
It's not just at airbases where it not only unsightly it's dangerous, but everywhere unfortunately.
I live close to the A14 in Suffolk, and the rubbish along side it is horrendous at times.
Take note every one, BIN IT OR TAKE IT HOME!!
I think you will get lots of replies to this thread as the message needs to get across.
All the best

I take my lunch items in a carrier bag when I go away.
Once unwrapped and eaten, the wrappers and any remains go back into the carrier bag.
The carrier bag is then safely deposited in a bin at home.
Not too difficult is it?

Good one Garf and co......... In future I'll be bringing a few large black bin liners with me. After devouring our lobster and mushy peas, me and the Captain put our rubbish in the bin by the main viewing area. Sure isn't hard. :thumb:

Good work to you all. Sadly as I have said many times it is not the enthusiasts who litter, break down fences or block access roads. Its mostly the one timers who stop because they the aircraft then move on after ten minutes leaving their mess. Expect Scampton has even worst problems with the grannies who stop where they like to let the kids see the Red Arrows. Still no laws or enforcement will ever stop them.

Thanks to all involved. :thumb:

Well done all of you. Never been to Coningsby to spot yet but have it on my to-do list.
People just have no respect for the environment case of unwrap my lunch then chuck the rubbish on the floor because it's too much bother to take it home.

Other problem is a lot of the litter louts are likely to lamp you one if you remonstrate with them.

I agree to what has been said about your litter, that it should be taken home with you. It starts with litter and if unchecked leads to FLY TIPPING. Would you go to the loo, Poo, clean your bum , then Not FLUSH the Loo, so someone else would have to do it for you...NO. Then don't leave litter for someone else to to pick up. :@ Don't Laugh, as it not funny, all you need for litter is an plastic bag to put you rubbish in OK. (TAKE LITTER HOME).
