Sounds about right. Interesting that it's in given the downgrading of the runway which resulted in the Wattisham Antonov flights going to Brize instead.

Hi Trev,

It looked lovely turning over the top of Stowmarket, glinting off the sun - only because I'm off work this week I happened to be at gate 2, Wattisham and saw it depart in the grey stuff :grr:

Just a quickie from gate 2 and taken in bad light, no amount of polishing is going to improve this turd! Wattisham looked abandoned, no AAC ops and nothing outside and haven't seen an AH all day. SAR looks like it's been locked up and left. I can't help wondering if they've quietly all moved out and left the place and not told anybody.

The rotation was pretty late compared to some I've seen, he did have me wondering for a while...

Hi Gary

Well caught!!! I saw it glinting in the sun over Stowmarket as it turned west bound, and went right over top of me, Your "turd" is a nice shot!! I managed a pic on my phone but its just a spec :(
Like you I thought runway was said not to be upto heavy aircraft standards... hopefully there will be more, any ideas where it was heading? Excerise or deployment?
Hope to catch you again soon mate :thumb:

I've heard the problem with the run way, was that the top layer of the tarmac was degrading and therefore deamed unsuitable for all jet aircraft, something to do with the braking effects as the aircraft land I was told, however they have recently looked back into it and have allowed heavy jets to continue using it but not fast jets due to them heating the run way on rotation. However don't hold me to any of that! Just what I've been told!

Cracking shot there Gary! Managed to catch it on the way in but missed it on the way out, however did manage to see it from the garden though! Has been a little AH movement today but nothing too exciting! Another Antonov due in again tomorrow at similar time around 13:00.
