Had a brilliant lecture with OC 617 Sqn last night. Explained about the lack of flying etc. Also explained about how training has changed on F-35, why they don't fly close formations for example. Also how it could be potentially bad news for the Mach Loop Mafia

Unfortunately, modern military has been on a steady downward trend for years. I hoped for a long time that Classic Jets would fill the gap, but after Shoreham - that seems to have finished too.
It's a sad time - the F-35 really does signify the end of an era.

To be fair though (armchair expert alert) I am genuinely concerned about the way our armed forces are going. It seems the MOD have chosen a tiny number of PR golden gooses in rather than a larger, more adaptable, conventional force.
