F35 on apron visible between temporary hangars with people around it in high visibility vests. Cockpit has been opened and shut

Two Tornado Gr4s have also landed in the last hour

I hope you have some luck with the F-35 but when I have seen them fly ( which admittedly isn't all that often) they are towed further away from the hangar out towards the line of yellow fuel bowsers.

That sounds promising

I know the first four delivered went into that 'big green hangar' but is there enough room inside for all nine?

After disappearing out of sight it moved to the apron by runway 19, it seemed to be surrounded by personnel for half an hour ,but due to heavy rain I moved on.

The spasmodic flights reported are nothing new. I live approx 2 miles from the end of the runway currently in use and see aircraft at approx 500ft after take off passing the front of my house which is possibly three quarters of a mile distant at the stage. Any F35 flights I have observed tend to be low level short circuits of the local area, quite possibly practicing take off and landing. I say quite possibly because they tend to mostly have the undercarriage lowered a lot of the time even when quite a distance out from the runway. I have also observed them flying around a similar circuit with the air intake immediately behind the pilot in the elevated position . The Tornados in contrast are active most weekdays, whereas I have seen less F35’s since the arrival of the second batch than I did when there was only the first batch on site, even though not all of those were operational!

It’s easy to know when they are flying..... the windows rattle!!

I’m lucky however as I have the compensation of the Lakenheath aircraft, especially F15’s etc above my head most days. Some of their practice routines, not always high level, are jaw dropping and mostly take place in pairs!
