Harrier GR3

Post by PercyPotter » Tue Sep 26, 2017 10:07 am

Hi all,

Seen going into Marham on the back of a low-loader was a bare metal Harrier GR3 with an GR1 nose cone fitted. I have it on good authority it is XV741 in for paint.

Should be from Thorpe Wood N Yorks. That company that revamps old airframes to resell for static display. Has it been sold now? Guess they got a good deal with the Paintshop there - wont be much Tornado work now I would imagine...

I'm hoping that a couple may be painted up to commemorate the Tornados RAF service, as I'm assuming that there's only the Marham black tail left.

If its XV741 from Jet Art, then I assume it will be going back to the colours it had during the 1969 Transatlantic Air Race, which it won.

If its XV741 they have returned to a stock GR.1, then it will be heading to either Jet Arts HQ, or its new owner. Most certainly not RIAT

Thanks Percy,

Its is the one they have spent loads on returning to GR.1 standard. And there is a reason for it. It is a special airframe

Think RAF St Pancras in London 1969 :ninja:
