Your Decimomannu, Sardinia suggestion is still on the table....it's the only one so far that 'Motley' didn't 'kill' immediately. Perhaps we could, within the OSA rules start adding 'Warmer or Colder' comments? (location guess...not air temperature please Motley?)
Sunnier climates where you don't need to be armed are few & far between if you go East! So my guess is the USA for one last Hurrah! Close-to or not?? ;)

IX Squadron are participating in Exercise Brilliant Arrow in Germany from the 11th-22nd September so I guess Marham will close the first week of September and re open last week of September unless IX Sqdn go somewhere else after the exercise?

Can say that IX(B) are not doing an exerise in Germany in September, where we are going for an excerise while the runway is being done has been mentioned a few times in this thread now

So which Sqdn is doing the German exercise then? I thought 12 would be on Op Shader then and 31 Sqdn on post Shader leave? Which left 9 Sqdn? Or are 31 staying on shader longer and 12 sqdn are doing the German exercise? as Scramble states there are RAF Tornados participating.

Now that WOULD be a nice dream ! Since a few of the 40 odd surviving GR4s started their careers at Honington they would certainly know their way home.....

Runway isn't in a fit state to take fast jets, all approach lights etc removed a year or two a back sadly.

Yeah I know. I drive past regularly. As I said " a nice dream".
Surprised the runway can take anything these days. - A waste of a great airfield.

Ah OK mate thanks. I meant the majority. Are they 12 Sqdn crews bringing the jets to Scampton?
