Hi guys, I'm thinking of going to Raf Marham in the not too distant future, I don't drive so I'm looking for a reasonably decent place to stay is kings Lynn any good is it close enough for either bus or taxi and what is it likely to cost.
I'm mainly looking to head to Marham when the f-35's get here
Did you know that registration to Fighter Control is completely free and brings you lots of added features? Find out more....

Why not go there now and see a proper aircraft in action ;-)

Couldn't agree more. F35s will be about for the next 50 years. Tonkas will be gone within 18 months!!! Go get them while you canBlackcat1 wrote:Why not go there now and see a proper aircraft in action ;-)

The only realistic places to watch are the approaches for 06 or 24. That's for Tornado, no idea what procedure the F-35s will be using.
Kings Lynn is not the closest town. Your best bet would be staying in Swaffham or Downham Market - both approx 10mins taxi ride to the airfield.
Or you could try a B&B in Fincham in which case you could probably walk to the 06 end. No idea about bus services.
To echo the previous responses - go now and see the real deal !
Good luck
David.

Runway 24 is the usual runway in use which is walkable (with extreme caution as there is no footpath) from Narborough, where there are several B&Bs (I found Narpenny House on a quick google search).
You can get to Narborough easily on the "X1" bus which runs from Peterborough through Kings Lynn, Dereham and Norwich to Yarmouth, see:

I wouldn't recommend spotting at Marham on a Friday as the Sqns don't usually fly, and I have heard the base will be closed for flying for a few weeks during this August for runway work and a leave maximise...but that is just a rumour.
From July 18 to March 19 you should see both Tornado and F-35 flying, but not too much of either as the Tornado fleet winds down and the F-35 fleet equips.
