When I was at Marham last week, we were told it might be a smaller event compared to normal. Their not sure how the CAA regulations will affect the base. Also some of the funding they use for the F&F has apparently been cut. The base / squadrons are looking at other ways to fund the day

CAA regs shouldn't/can't affect a military airfield.
Re: RAF Marham Families Day 2016
How we had it explained, the MAA are conducting their own review and also working along side the CAA and will adapt or change regulations once the review is complete if needed.
Sounded like it was more of a funding issue for the day more than anything.

I'm sure we'll get plenty of action including :-
4 ship Tornado launch/return
F15s fly through
Red Arrows display
Voyager - at least a fly through, if not static
King Air display
Typhoon 35 display
Numerous Reach aircraft using MAM as turning point and at FL300 plus
Anything else will be a bonus

Something and nothing, you know how the rumour mill works, however reliable the source. But given the date, what other shows are on, what's there and what is going to be based at Marham??grimly aviation pics wrote:Something you need to tell us??55 wrote:Watch out for a surprise visitor

I believe I know from a little rumour iv heard whether it is true or not it does kind of make sense
Re: RAF Marham Families Day 2016
yes mate, I heard the rumour from a pretty reliable source, in fact the same source that told me about the f-35's a couple of weeks before announced, so on that basis, looking good, but as always, until official, get excited with caution lolgrimly aviation pics wrote:I believe I know from a little rumour iv heard whether it is true or not it does kind of make sense

I wouldn't get to excited, when I was at Marham the other week. The plan was for a flypast(s) only, with Tornado escort. That's if they stick about for nearly a week after Farnborough

Re: RAF Marham Families Day 2016
I see the typhoon was confirmed today nice addition
Re: RAF Marham Families Day 2016
I'm sure we will see at least a pair of F15, it will be no problem to fly through like last year as they go en-route.
Whilst Typhoon 35 will close the flying displays, I have yet to work out how he can be at Honington also - Honington info appears not up to date as yet, mind you nor is any other base.

Does anyone know if they are going to be allowing us to be at chalk lane? 2014 they cut the field a few days before and we used the field sensibly?
Re: RAF Marham Families Day 2016
Being told on base due to the Shoreham crash and the new rules everyone has to be off the HAS sites and far side of the airfield during the whole displays, so they may be looking at the surrounding areas tooAndrewBen1988 wrote:Does anyone know if they are going to be allowing us to be at chalk lane? 2014 they cut the field a few days before and we used the field sensibly?
