Ospreys

Post by ChrisCwmbran » Fri Jul 13, 2018 10:19 am

Am I right in thinking the Ospreys at Mildenhall seem to be more active in the mid afternoon onwards?

Is there any day where they are less likely to be active?

Hi Chris

Always afternoon and evenings.

Evening they do a lot of hot seating with engines running. One crew off next one on.

The Ospreys can fly any time of day, but are busy most evenings along with the MC130s.

Johns field is good for viewing hot gassing when they are doing it.(usually on Delta North) Normally have departed the pattern by 2000, to return probably well after midnight.

Monday to Thursday evenings mostly, (not guaranteed to fly every night, as sometimes they deploy out for the day) they don’t normally fly Friday evening.

Hope that helps

Sculthorpe is good for them I’ve seen C130s in from late morning approaching over walsingham and ospreys too but check notams it’s mostly mid afternoon to late in the evening they do para drops and fast rope drops from the ospreys and high drops from the Hercules.
