Mildenhall and 4th July.

Post by WinchesterMGF » Sun Jul 01, 2018 7:34 pm

Hi.

I have Weds and Thurs free this week coming and I was planning to sit in John's Field for my once-every-couple-of-months pilgrimage to Mildenhall. It hadn't occurred to me that 4th July celebrations may scupper my plans until I saw the post from Bollo regarding the NOTAM for Lakenheath closures for a few days. I have searched the internet regarding possible Mildenhall closure but can find nowt. Is it worth the trip up from darkest Sussex or should I abandon the mighty USAF and try my luck for the first time with the RAF? Thinking Coltishall and/or Marham.

Cheers.

Andrew.

I assume you mean Marham and or Coningsby?

Pity you can't make 3 July as that day is slated to be a 100 flypast practice day - they should over fly Marham towards Cranwell plus that should mean some activity at Marham.

Coltishall closed in 2006 and is now a prison. Cannot advise on where to go though.

 Coningsby. Alas I have the joys of a work related Health & Safety course on the 3rd so going to miss the 100 flypast practice. Thank you for the replies though.

No problems

That would be exactly the type of course or meeting that would bring on a summer cold. Turning up the next day with a sun burnt face would raise a few eyebrows.
