I second that, well done 🙂 As someone mentioned earlier, thinks it's a case of parking somewhere like the viewing area and getting on the coach to be taken to the base. Think there are a few on here who have done the tour as I've missed out on a couple, perhaps they could advice on that front. And on allowable kit that can be taken on the base ? Presuming cameras are fine with perhaps restrictions on where they can and cannot be used ? As to be cancelled last minute, presuming as we are all on this group, we, out of anyone understands that one.
Can't wait but understand we will have to 🙂

Hi, so just waiting to hear back from them if we have been accepted and a date. Tour time is 11:30 - 3:30PM, the idea i had is that anyone driving, could drive and park at the viewing area, then i could arrange for a coach to maybe start at the local train station (Brandon) for anyone traveling by train, then come to the viewing area, pick us up, then go to the base and then the reverse coming home?

The tour is not designed for photography BUT,,,,you can take photos when permitted (looking at previous tours on here, im pretty sure you will be happy with the photo opportunities)

Sound good?

Hi,

I've only just read through this thread, so it's probably a little late now.

As someone who recently organised a tour of Lakenheath, I really wouldn't recommend airfield management at all....

We had a great tour, with a great guide. On our tour we did,

RAPCON (Very Good)
Control Tower (Epic, witnessed 6 x performance take-offs)
Airfield Management (Meh, don't think anyone on our tour enjoyed this one)
Static shoot with an F-15E (Excellent)
Fire Brigade Tour (Meh, followed by epic when you consider that the brigade building is located within clear view of the EOR, when R24's in use. The jets then taxi straight past you...)
Planes on sticks (F-15, F-111 & F-4)

I can also recommend Thetford Coach Services, they were first class!

But whatever you get to see or do, have a great tour, the organisation of it will cause you hassle but stick with it because it'll be worth it in the end...!!

Thanks ash, that's great intel!

Ash, what happens with the coach at the gate, will i need to provide the coach drivers details? or will the coach not enter the base?

No problem...

The coach accompanies you on the whole tour...

And as part of the security info you have to provide to Lakenheath you have to include the drivers details, which are given to you by the coach company.

Is it possible the tour could be extended to include the new but growing collection of ladders scattered around the forest entrance?

I know that this thread has been going for a few months now so my guess is that you could fill more than one bus. If there is a chance of being added to the list, even as a reserve it would be much appreciated. I've never been on a base tour, but some day hopefully. Even if I don't get to go, thanks for arranging.

Put me down as 3 as my wife and Dad would love a place.
Also as stated above well meet you(if we're still able to get onto this tour) at the viewing area.

Hi all.

Quick note to Hernaman make sure no one on your list as been on a lakenheath tour in the last two years. If they have they will be refused on base.
