F-22s & F/A-18s

Post by IanM » Mon Oct 15, 2018 12:16 pm

I’m hoping to visit the base this week. Have the F/A-18s departed back to the carrier and does anyone know when the F-22s depart to the States?

Hi Ian,

Heading over myself tomorrow.

As of 13:20 today, the Hornets are still on base, believe they cancelled their mission this morning, unaware of when these depart back unfortunately.

The Raptors are still there and I believe they flew this morning also. They are due back to the States this coming Friday as well.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

A post in todays heads up thread suggests the hornets return to the ship tomorrow.

Any update on this? Forgive my ignorance but I haven't seen anything obvious in heads-up suggesting the Superhornets have gone.

I plan to take a trip over to Lakenheath tomorrow evening (5pm-ish)... what are my chances of seeing some action!?

They are working over Wales right now. I heard they are leaving Wed or Thu.

The F/A-18s have not returned to the carrier today.

If they are still present tomorrow, they will probably have their usual 1.5 hour sortie in the afternoon, leaving around 16.00. This seems to be the norm.

I heard the raptors were leaving on Tuesday. However there is a post on here that says they are off on Monday?

As far as I know there are 5 remaining hornets at Lakenheath as at Sunday morning ( although I must admit I didn't even realize that the 3/4 that took off Friday morning hadn't returned!)

I think F22s are down for 1000z departure today(Monday) unless things have changed.

I don't recall any tankers arriving for the F-22s yet or did I miss something?
Cheers

Something has just gone up but did not catch callsign on radio - they said they were 'RTB Lakenheath'

Cheers Bob - strange they said they would be 'rtb Lakenheath' - thought that would be a foregone conclusion

Did I hear a remove before flight streamer had been left on an aircraft? Now RTB
