Agreed; think this is our pax flight for the deployment. Interesting it went via an airport next to Ellsworth. Didn't think we were getting Lancers until August.

Had there been any confirmation of what types to expect? (If this is the exercise with the 900 visitors, then personally I'd expect more than just two types but there again who knows.....?)

It went to Ellsworth, that is according to Flightaware : 23may flew KDFW (Dallas FW) - KRCA. Then it routed via Barksdale (KBAD). Going transatlantic now.StormsInAfrica wrote:Agreed; think this is our pax flight for the deployment. Interesting it went via an airport next to Ellsworth. So why was it shown on Planefinder and FlightRadar SE of Newfoundland at about 02:30Z?

The current status at Flightaware, has no updated track : the position is "last seen at 0311utc" and then it shows a position east of St Johns. Sorry, did not notice it was "old" info.DC7C59 wrote:So why was it shown on Planefinder and FlightRadar SE of Newfoundland at about 02:30Z?
If this was wat 0311UTC it must be way over mid atlantic now.
Thanks for your remark

Re: EX ARCTIC CHALLENGE/BALTOPS/SABRE STRIKE/AMPLE STRIKE 17
Looking at this, it would appear that the B-52(s) may well participate on 1st/2nd June and then (guessing) end its/their mission at Fairford.
Source https://thebarentsobserver.com/en/secur ... 7-set-takeThe Norwegian Defence says at least one, maybe three, American B-52H strategic bomber will take part at the end of the exercise. Being the largest bomber in the world, the aircraft will not land at any of the air bases in the north, but participate in one of the missions near the end of the exercise.
Arctic Challenge 2017 kicks off on May 22 and will last until June 2.
Cheers, Bob

"BaltOps" DV Day is 6 June and "Saber Strike" DV 9 June. Both have fly overs scheduled.
