The military are not affected by a normal government shutdown. Essential things like emergency services, military are exempt. Only thing that could happen is their pay will be late . Or that's what's happened in previous shutdowns.

The shutdown would have to drag on or get as serious as budget sequestration before they started like in 2013

I'm sure there are only 4 now Neil, the 'diverted one' was repaired and departed.
The C17 left earlier today..

If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!

Out of interest, BBC News stated this morning that in 2013 the shutdown lasted 13 days. Thats how long it took them then to approve a budget at all.

From what I heard this morning, the President and his side want a budget for "the wall" and funds to deport around 700,000 individuals that were born in the US to illegal immigrants. The other side will not approve the budget proposed on both points.

As Pune has said the diverted one Mytee 91 has gone. It went on Tues and was 61-0018 I think. The C17 went this morning and was prob 07-7188.

I had heard they were meant to be here for 3 weeks. Some of the ground crew in the pub last week said they were here for 3 weeks, so going on that I would expect them to leave around 31st January as they arrived on the 10th. Things can of course change..

Of course, you can look at the time period in your way... 10+21 =31... End of the month? OR my way Depart Minot 09th + 3 weeks (Mon-Fri) = 26th January back at Home-base = 3 week deployment!
To be fair it's unusual for USAF Intelligence to frequent Fairford Pubs & even less likely to know what's actually happening? ;)

Thanks for your insight. As i said it was ground crew in one of my local pubs who gave me the info (I live just behind the base). The same info also came from USAF military protection that I was chatting to - I have contact with a few of them as a bit of a local guide. The only way to see is to to wait and find out, as I said things can always change and they may well do. Cheers.

Well if it helps, One of the U.S.A.F public affairs officers has posted on PCB, that they will be selling Minot swag again at the 27 end on Friday 26th January at 0930L.

Nothing up today? Some very loud bombers up over West Wiltshire this evening for the past 45 minutes so far (17.45 - 18.30). Certainly nothing British or civilian.

See the dedicated deployment section, it's all there under today's notam. 3 went up, one still is.
