We are used to seeing the hercules overflying Lyneham most days of the week going towards Salisbury Plain and Keevil but last night between 6.30 to 7.oclock we had a C130K over the airfield orbiting several times before returning in the Brize Norton direction.
I put it down to being held by Brize over Lyneham untill another aircraft had departed Brize Norton as a set of undercarriage lights came towards Lyneham around 6.50 climing east towards london.
But we had a re-occurance of the 6.30 event again at around 9.30 to 10.00 clock but this time with 2 aircraft.
Anyone with any ideas as to what was going on.
Nice to hear the engine sounds over Lyneham where they belong even though it was only for a short while.

Re: Hercules Over Lyneham Last Night
Thanks sussex to devon but the aircraft were the older C130K model of the Hercules that were based here at Lyneham for many years.
They stayed in the overhead for 30mins or so before returning to RAF Brize Norton returning later in the evening.
