A-109

Post by cloudhawk » Thu Nov 17, 2011 1:35 pm

Hi all, Noted flying overhead Barnstaple during the Military street parade today at around 1045 was A-109 "G-TELY" painted very dark , possibly black with a yellow stripe half way up the fuselage also with a large yellow "RESCUE" down the side . Is this a normal colour scheme for this helo ?

Hi just looked at a few pics of this " G-TELY " and it seems that that is its usual colour scheme.

G-TELY was, and probably still is with castle air at liskard.. thay do a lot of TV work(hennas the serial !) so more than likely it was painted on for some filming?
also worth a note is that castle air also do a lot of work with the 109's that are based at newqauy with westlands.. so it could have been something to do with the training of the pilots thay are doing..?
hope this has been useful information? ;)

Just caught "Castle 02" calling Chiv and confirming a visual of "SG169" this could possibly be the A 109 from yesturday "G-TELY" the other castle helo "Castle 04 G-HDTV" was heard earlier heading for Lundy. Sea King SG169 is using the ILS for practice not above 2000 ft.

"Castle 02" was not the A-109 that overflew Barnstaple on Thursday , "Castle 02" on Friday was painted in what appeared to be a light grey or similar colour scheme . I looked down onto Chivenor from Heanton Hill on Thursday & could not see any visiting helo that might have brought the D of E in .

this might?? clear it up! A-109 that overflew falmouth on thursday on it way to a landing site just west of culdrose (mullion) was a light gray colour.
and i managed to get a snap of it.. the reasson i did, was because it was calling what i thought might
have been a mill C/S..stobart 19 and there for might have been somthing worth a snap(not that a civi helo isn't  )but as it turned out
it was a civi A-109 and is owned by eddy stobart trucks!!! :ninja:
he did pop in to liskard for fuel on his return trip, so might well have changed C/S on its outbound flight??
heres the snap i got..

look like the 109 you spotted?

Hi Buzzer ,
The A-109 that overflew Chivenor on Friday looked very similar to the one in your photo , but was calling "Castle 02", so probably wasn't the same one unless it changed c/s sometime , perhaps it had a Castle pilot flying at the time .
They must have tucked the S-76 away close to a hangar at Chiv. as I went up to Heanton Hill twice during the D. of E.s visit & couldn't see any visiting helo on the ground . Thanks all , Cloudhawk
