Rumour. Parking for the show

Post by C24 » Wed Jan 04, 2017 11:26 am

Many of us will know that there isn't much usable hard standing at the airfield. On the other hand, RAF Waddington has plenty and a new runway.
The rumour is that some aircraft for the show will use the facilities, messing & aircraft handling and operate from there.

:D that will mean the the spectator area used previously for arrivals/departures will operate for the period of the show. This will allow practice displays over Waddo.

Is there any truth in this rumour? ;)

I believe Scampton will have its own Park and View Thurs/Fri/Mon, I seem to remember reading that on their website.

I cant see Waddington opening their Park and View, would guess the majority of man power (military personnel to man the gates, first aid cover, toilets etc) will be needed at Scampton.

I think the part about A/C using Waddington is almost a given with the amount of space at Scampton.

The WAVE will be open all weekend, as seen on the WAVE spotters group on Facebook, so that pretty much confirms A/C will use Waddington, just as Cosford use Shawbury?

Cheers

Mike

Also,

Foreign (if any turn up!!) A/C will need to practice over the display site, not Waddington.

Wave open and I should imagine the Sentinel and E-3 (possibly other stuff) will fly from Wadd for the show.
