Yeovilton Air Day Patches

Post by Gingercake » Sun Jul 22, 2018 7:15 pm

Hadn't been to an Air Day for years and with knowledge that there would be French Navy in attendance I thought it would be a good opportunity to add some of their patches (and others!) to my growing collection.

Nice 34F Lynx patches. After that 'Steampunk' version if anyone has a spare.

Nice haul! I was there as well. And got some of the same patches. I didn't see the "choose the right side" star wars patch. Wish I had seen that one. Will post my haul pics soon.

Wish I'd spotted the star wars patch too... Which squadron did that come from out of interest?

How much are you guys spending on patches? Years ago (1980's) I used to collect F-15 patches, and they were £5-£10 each then. Even if they haven't gone up, there must be close to £500 there :S

Seamus - The Caiman crew had the Star wars patch.

And in answer to Malcolm - I did spend quite a lot of money but nowhere near £500 thankfully! but its a big passion of mine and I genuinely love to see what other patch collectors have managed to get from shows to see if I missed anything that I may be able to get at another event and likewise thats why I post my pictures of what I got, not to gloat or boast etc.

Engaging with aircrew and talking about my hobby has its benefits as with the Dutch Cougar crew - I shared with them my large Dutch Heli patch collection and after seeing this he gave me a good discount along with several freebies as well as getting the orange patch in the picture - this was a special patch they had made for their participation in the Liberation Day flypast and was the very last one they had. Had I not engaged with them I doubt I would have added this patch to my collection.

Best Wishes
James

I will LITERALLY give you an insane amount of money for the CF18 patch if you ever decide to sell it. I forgot to buy a second one :(

Thanks for that, annoying to have missed that as I even picked up one of their 60 years patches. I'm hoping they'd already sold out of them before I got there....

After sorting out how to use Flickr the other day I thought I would post my Yeovilton haul. It was my first time at this show and it was an excellent show. Patch opportunities while not as good as RIAT were not bad. The star pickup was a trade from one of the Qatari C-130J crewmembers after trying to get one since the 2016 RIAT.

Cheers,
Todd

Well done on getting the Qatari patch!!! Great stuff!

Nice selection. Bargains of the day were the Danish patches - £3 each and even their challenge coins were £3!

Thank you. I don’t remember them being 3£ but I think they were 4£ each. But it seems this year at RIAT and yeovilton patch prices seem to vary. But yes the danish ones were cheap but that’s probably because they are maintenance patches and the same ones they have sold for years.

Does anybody know where I can get that French Navy Rafale PVC?

I missed it at RIAT.
