Xingu? Enlighten me please.

James, I had a funny feeling that the RIAT patches were going to be expensive, so I ordered the full set of three direct from Pat Van Dam for $30 USD plus shipping, which was included with two other patches from the Bolars out of another set of three, that were announced a few days previously. The shipping was combined for those five patches so I made quite a significant saving, compared to what it would have cost me at the table, which would have been £90!
It's usually more expensive to go direct from Pat, but this time it was the right decision. I agree, the Bolars' patch was a lot nicer.

£30 for a current patch, at the exact show it's designed for, is absolutely ridiculous.
Only just seen this properly Minty - good idea. Any contact details/eBay etc for Pat Van Dam at all please? Cheers :thumb:

I dropped a link for you in Messenger chap....

Andy,

The 230Sqn Patch was on sale with Squadron Prints, while can't see it on their website maybe worth checking with them directly.

Cheers Rob
Thank you Rob, Dan and Asif for your kind replies. I will contact Squadron prints directly as I did not see it on their web site when I ordered the 230 Sqn NTM patches from them.
I was curious because a collector friend of mine told me it was from 21 Gruppo ITAF... Okay mystery solved. Thank you all so very much!

All four will be for sale from BomberPatches.com soon. Kerry's busy at the moment but he will get around to it.

Pride of the Skies or whatever their name is did not design the patch, they are simply a retailer.

In case anybody is wondering, Bomber Patches designed the 2 Sqn Wedgetail RAF 100 PVC patch, and also the C-17 RAF100 Patch that I posted. Again, they'll be available soon.

When i said 'pride of the skies did them' i wasn't implying they actually made them just that they had a number for sale...

Nice A-4N Skyhawk patch. Didn't see that one for sale on Friday!!! Would have snagged that!.

Also out of curiosity how much were the Dutch Chinook guys asking for on their patches?. I wasnt impressed with there £20 patch prices on the Friday. Wanted the 'cookie monster' patch. That being they only had the desert version on display. See you have colour variant as well.

James whatsapped me at the show saying he spent a small fortune on the Dutch Chinook stall  never asked him how much

Nice haul, really like thoses cookie monster patches will have to invest at KB. I just noticed you got the Sanicole anniversary patch too. Missed out on that at the show last year  meant to go back to them but had to leave early to get the ferry home.
Posh are going to Wembley (albeit for a tin cup)

Great haul!

Where did you get the Chinook RAFG patch?
I traded mine for a rare Typhoon Spearhead, and I would like to get one again.

Nice haul James! Like Asif said I too passed on the Chinook patches due to the 20-15£ prices. Where did you get the 1 Sqn Stingers CCD patch? I didn't see that any of the three days. And the A-4 Skyhawk Air Tattoo patch? Since they didn't have a jet there I'm assuming this was a private deal? Will hopefully post my haul soon.

To answer the many questions;

- The Dutch patches were ridiculous price of £20 each but I got them down to £15 as I wanted several as I have a large Dutch helicopter patch collection.
- 1 Sqn CCD - I had contacted the sqn beforehand to get this patch but then they cancelled their visit but they were kind enough to make arrangements for a 350 Sqn pilot to bring it across for me.
- A-4 And RAFG Chinook - I was very lucky to bump into the designer whilst serving him on the stand I was helping out at, he ripped the A-4 one off his polo shirt! and whilst talking found out he had the last copy of the Chinook patch on him!

Thanks for the answers. And yes when you buy a lot from one squadron they tend to give a discount. As for the A4 and the RAFG Chinook patches, I know who that is. Again thanks for the answers.

Well after figuring out how to post from Flickr, here is my RIAT haul. Photobox was so much easier to use but since they have started charging a fee I have switched to Flickr. RIAT 18 was a great show and also a great show for patches. Prices did seem to vary between nations and even on different days. And while I did spend a bit I have gone for several years now and always expect this so I saved up and worked some discounts. Some were free as well or through trades. And lastly some of these were purchased from the patch boxes of Squadron Prints and Aviation Bookshop both of which I highly recommend. And like James said earlier it's nice to see what others got and see what was out there and some that we still want to get. Its by no means a post to boast about who got more or who spent more. So here you go.

The Roadrunner Dispatch patch was up there in front of the Austrian Herks with the rest of their patches the whole weekend. There was also a desert version. As for the Donkey patch, I got it with the rest of the HH-101 patches on the Friday when they first put them out. I think they sold out on the Friday.

The annoying thing with the Austrian patch was that I bought the full colour one with Wile E. Coyote but I never saw the Road Runner one!

Wow what a haul. That's an instant collection on its own. I would have loved the LTG-62 Grizzly patch to add to my A400 collection but didn't see anyone selling when I went past on the Friday. Would be interested if anyone has a spare for sale.
