Ashley H's Patch Collection

Post by Ashley H » Fri Jul 21, 2017 2:33 pm

Hello,

For a little while i had been thinking of a way to get some of my patch collection on display instead of just sitting in boxes. In the end i decided to get some box display frames and i think this has worked quite well as it has also enabled me to split them up into there own themes.

I like these :thumb:.
Just wondering where did you get the frames & also how did you attach the patches in the frame?

Cheers,

Hi TankBuster,

Thank you

These frames came from the range and are available in different sizes and maybe painted white instead of the black ones I went for, Wilko also do a very similar frame but in a plain wood finish ( think it was a light pine colour). Then I got some craft felt off ebay and cut it to cover the whole backing board and used double sided tape to sick it down. The felt is good as it just holds a Velcro backed patch in place enough, a couple of the patched in the pictures I had to cut some small pieces of tape backed Velcro (also of eBay) to secure them to the felt but these patches have the clear shiny backing which means the Velcro should remove OK afterwards. I am not sure what it will be like doing this to a cloth or thread backed patch though, hope this has helped!

Regards

Ashley

Hi,

Many thanks for the info, its much appreciated :thumb: . Its interesting to hear how you've attached the patches in a way that they may easily be removed in the future, a great idea! All too often I've come across patches that have been stuck in frames with a hot glue gun, which of course completely ruins them.

Cheers,
TankBuster

I would never dream of putting glue anywhere near them :O , as you mentioned i wanted a simple fixing method so i can easily change the patches in the future.

Evening All,

Here is a picture of my haul from being at RIAT on Saturday this year which is a bit on the small side compared to some previous years.
I was surprised to find a 2 Squadron Korean patch in the Squadron Prints tent

Very nice collection! First time I've seen the round 1(F)Sqn Op Shader patch, is this a Squadron Prints one?

Evening All,

My collection picked up from Friday at RIAT. Was hoping to get the Aussie's but they didn't turn up till we was on the road out :(
Also missed out on anything the Canadians had for sale by the CC-177 etc, but i am quite happy i managed to pick up the 31Sqn FACS, 492nd Iniohos & 494th Exercise Juniper Falcon.
