Hi Stuart

It's stands for Future Aircrew Clothing System, which are the new growbags the aircrew are wearing. They apparently only have room for one patch. So the patch featured above is the new design.

Hi Gary, to be honest I wasn't very keen at first as I thought they may stop the many varied designs/shapes/sizes of patch that have been produced over the years. This would make sense as I am sure the RAF would prefer 'uniformity' on the flying suits. That said, I like the 5 Sqn Ex Red Flag FACS patch design which obviously doesn't feature the sqn badge. It will be interesting to see how they develop in future...

I must admit I like the designs, and can see the sense with the uniformity of a single 'one size fits all' patch. However, I also share the concerns of rafpatchman in that it could lead to less designs being produced if the crews have nowhere to put them!

That said, I'd quite like the Tornado Force ones if Squadron Prints choose to put them on sale! :halo:

Regards,
Steve.

They have a secondary function as splints for broken limbs. I am collecting them but it seems they will reduce the number of patches we can collect plus at £7.50 each a larger hole in the budget each time .

I got my first FACS patch yesterday, a 101 Sqn version, and I have to say that I was really impressed with it. The only problem that I have is that it is bigger than I thought (about 16 x 7 cm) and doesn't fit any of the velcro patches that I have on my jackets. Despite that I will definitely be investing in more though.
