Battle of Britain airshow Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th Sept

Post by Sean Mac » Sat Aug 07, 2010 3:25 pm

The 2009 show was the first year that we changed from an Open Day to make a specific celebration of the Battle of Britain which was met with a great response. There will be the a huge range of things for all the family to do from static aircraft to Military Vehicles, Classic Cars, Historic Re-Enactors and trade stands this event is being held at Kemle Airfield (The Cotswolds Airport).

The Airbus A400M and A380 have been confermed to be displaying at the Event this year. :thumb:  Below is the email I was sent.
Two Airbus Giants Grace Air Show!

Battle of Britain Weekend 2010 We are delighted to announce that the world's largest passenger aircraft, the A380 Airbus, and the RAF's new transport aircraft, the Airbus A400M, will be among the special guests displaying on Saturday 18th September, the first day of this year's two day Battle of Britain Air Show at Cotswold Airport in Gloucestershire.

The theme of the show will be largely centred on the aircraft of the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, as well as aircraft from other periods. However, to secure the A380 for this show is a real coup, as it is pretty unusual for passenger aircraft of that size to display at such events and we must say a huge thanks to Airbus for allowing them to visit us. It will also be great to see the A400M, which is the future shape of military transport, so there will be a nice contrast of old and new.

A400MOther aircraft due to appear include aan original giant the Antonov AN2 (the world's biggest single-engined bi-plane), The Tiger Moth display team, a Hawker Hunter T7, a Jet Provost T3, and a Douglas DC3 wartime transport aircraft that most probably flew from Kemble during 1944.

The Battle of Britain of Britain Air Show on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th September is a welcoming, relaxed, family-orientated event and there will be plenty to see and do and we feel the Airbus displays will be the icing on the cake.

Sean,

Any chance the RAF will provide some of their BoB marked fast-jets for the static. The 111 Sqd F.3 would be nice, or the Cottesmore Harriers?

Living in hope.

John
