The Victory Show was a wonderful prospect with a great line-up.

Richard grace flew over the site on Friday evening and then things started to go wrong. When we arrived on Saturday morning we knew the temporary airfield was extremely wet. The C47 had flown in on Friday afternoon to conduct a period parachute drop for the show. Unfortunately very little information was available regarding the display flying. No use of a tannoy system to let people know and at the gate the staff were just keen to part you from your £18.

We set our seats up on the crowd-line and eventually a member of staff confirmed that due to the wet airfield nothing would be landing, but that the displays would go ahead with the aircraft working out of Leicester Airport.

Okay, not the end of the world, we had come to see some lovely old war-birds and would still be able to get some good photographs, hopefully.

Then at 11:15 a member of show staff came down the line and said that due to CAA restrictions all flying for the weekend was cancelled. He mentioned something about the CAA saying the only space for a display was the Cosby Golf Club and at a thousand feet. He was closely followed by the Display Director who would give no details away, stated he had been on the phone all morning and when asked about a refund, really didn't want to help.

So with no prospect of any aircraft to photograph we packed up. Walked out, complained about the poor communication and requested a refund. We got passed up the Chain of Command until some phone calls were made and we got our refunds. We then drove to Bruntingthorpe to see a few aircraft and then went to the pub.

Sadly this will probably be the end of aviation displays at the Victory Show, a great shame as we have thoroughly enjoyed previous years.
