Flying prevails whenever a man and his airplane are put to a test of maximum performance.

Re: 2016 Abingdon Air & Country Show
Are any arrivals/rehearsals (even departures) due on Friday or Saturday this year (I presume there will be some arrivals for the photoshoot) and if so are times available please ?
Will G-TVAL be doing a flypast (G-HBOB no longer in use ?) if not on call ?
(Will it be snowing ? )
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the heads up re today. 21 is a lot for Saturday !! ..however although I usually spend the day by before the show by the perimeter I gave it a miss today.
Bagged the NH90 arriving yesterday but missed the Tutor..Understand it arrived shortly before the NH90 so guess it came in from the South without a pass during a short period when I had the radio off

Hi well its nearly here, hopefully the weather will be OK,and we all have a great day Enjoy your day everyone. I'll be there
Re: 2016 Abingdon Air & Country Show
I was unable to make the Abingdon Air & Country Show yesterday. Does anyone know the serials of the RAF Tutor, Air Cadet Vigilant and Viking aircraft in the static? Was there a fly past from Brize Norton. Grateful thanks.
Re: 2016 Abingdon Air & Country Show
Tutor- G-BYVL
Vigilant- N/A
Tutor- N/A
There wasn't a flypast from Brize, however an A400M could be seen in the distance shortly after the flying programme had ended.

Vigilant was ZH266/UY
Re: 2016 Abingdon Air & Country Show
Grateful thanks paulk and BrizeWatcher. I had seen both the Tutor and Vigilant before, however, the NH-90 RN-08 would have been new! Perhaps there was no Viking in the static display. Saw a photo on Ab Air/Country Show twitter account, which showed 612Sqn hangar the night before with a Vigilant, Viking and Tutor ready for the Sunday show. https://twitter.com/AbingdonFayre Glad you all got great weather for the show.
Re: 2016 Abingdon Air & Country Show
The Tutor was put in the VGS hangar overnight, only a Vigilant was pulled out for static display, alongside the Tutor.

Re: 2016 Abingdon Air & Country Show
I've been to a few displays at Abingdon, and I thought yesterday's show wasn't any different to any other years in most respects.
1) The crowd line to runway distance felt the same.
2) The BBMF display distance and height to me felt as per usual.
3) Peter Teichmans display felt 50 foot higher than normal.
4) The Twister display was the same.
5) Blenheim display felt 50' higher and 50' further away.
No big deal really, glad I went, I feel positive for other shows coming up.
Thanks to everyone at Abingdon for a nice day

I believe it was the same.paullangford wrote:1) The crowd line to runway distance felt the same.
Because they've always been displaying to military standards, which were higher and further away that civil ones in the past, but are now the same.paullangford wrote:2) The BBMF display distance and height to me felt as per usual.
There was a noticable difference in his displays, compared to those elsewhere. Not least the fact that the vast majority of it was spent upside down, at the top of a loop, nowhere near the crowd.paullangford wrote:3) Peter Teichmans display felt 50 foot higher than normal.
It was, due to its speed it can use the closer display distances.paullangford wrote:4) The Twister display was the same.
Having not seen it display before, I can't comment on this, but I'd assume with its speed, it used the same display line and height as the BBMF.paullangford wrote:5) Blenheim display felt 50' higher and 50' further away.
Re: 2016 Abingdon Air & Country Show
yesterday's show was a good start to the season. I did hear over the tannoy at the end that it was the first time that the show was under Military Rules if that makes any difference. I thought that most displays were generally the same apart from the P40 and the Cat. The P40 did seem further away than normal and the Cat seemed a lot higher than normal. It was also very apparent that no turns were executed near or over the approach road to the airfield and signs were clearly displayed informing onlookers that they should move on.
I also left the show without any congestion and felt that this years Abingdon show had changed minimally and I was happy with the photos taken during the day.
