Re: Bruntingthorpe CWJ Days 2015
Hello
Thinking of going to this for the first time, could someone please give me details about the show,as in where's the best places to take photos and videos from.
Is there any point in taking my 100-400l lens for photos, are you shooting into the sun, what's the parking like, food stalls etc.
How long does the show last for.....
Thanks
Ian

Hi.
I cant advise on the lens I'm afraid, you are very close to the aircraft on the crowd line which is great for photos. Parking is very close to the crowd line, food stalls are OK, but they do get very busy, you might want to take a pack-up as well. First taxi run is at 11am, last one at around 4.00pm. doesn't normally take long to leave the airfield at the end of the day.

Sun should be behined you most of the day.
lens take what you have, choice can be made on the day then. Zoom in or wide angle.
you are very close to the runway, do a google search of past events to see how close you are, car parking is directly behined crowd line so easy to sit in car for lunch etc. Crowd line gets very busy thou and you can find yourself 5 deep or more.

Re: Bruntingthorpe CWJ Days 2015
I'll be down on Sunday. I went to the August show last year and used the 24-105 lens the most. 100-400 was only used to shoot the Cathay 747's parked up as we couldnt get down there and the Spitfire/Hurricane flypast.

Not as far as I know, unless they use PMR.

Here's the latest news from the LPG website 03/06/15
Cheers, Rog.
PS. Some news about XR713
Unfortunately there will be not be a QRA Day this Summer, as no dates can be made available to us.
We are all disappointed, however, to compensate, we are planning that the Twilight Run on Saturday 7th November will be both aircraft, and February 2016 will see a Twilight Scramble from the Q-Shed.
Cheers, Rog.
PS. Some news about XR713
June 2nd UPDATE. XR713 was delivered to Bruntingthorpe in two loads at the end of April and the first week in May. The reassembly has already begun with the connection of the wings and the mating to the fuselage. We plan to complete the reassembly as soon as possible, and funds are urgently required to finish the project. Please donate what you can by visiting the website, http://www.lightnings.org.uk or send cheques payable to LPG to: Chris Norris, 12 Newark Rd, Coddington, Newark, Notts. NG24 2QF.

An hour away for me but well worth the trip. My Dad is driving up from Poole for it. early start for him!
Re: Bruntingthorpe CWJ Days 2015
Thanks for that. I took my son about twenty years ago when just the Lightning was doing a fast taxy and we (few) spectators were able to line the length of the runway (great for photos). Presumably things have now changed.Richard B wrote:Crowd line gets very busy thou and you can find yourself 5 deep or more.
I remember it was a cold November day and after the run spectators and ground crew gathered round the rear end of the lightning to warm our hands. Something else never to be repeated?
