Hi Dave,

I was stuck in traffic for hours on the M54 last year and couldn't get onto the base. After a few detours and completely by accident I found a spot on the Newport Rd (24 end of the airfield).I parked in Albrighton and walked back up to the field. The field is the one up from Worthington drive and before Sandy Lane. It was a very popular location last year due to the airshow reaching maximum capacity, but I suppose it is all down to wind direction and what runway is in use on the day!

See following link for location.

Some images from last year.

Cosford's official announcement

""Reds Alert" Red Arrows Update

We are very pleased to announce that the RAF Aerobatics Team, The Red Arrows, will display at the RAF Cosford Air Show on Sunday 13 June. The Team has been able to complete the revised training schedule and has now been given the Public Display Authority required to enable them to perform their display at Air Shows this year.

The RAF Cosford Air Show will be the Red Arrows' first display in the UK in 2010, and the first opportunity for the public to meet Flight Lieutenant Kirsty Moore. Kirsty is the first woman to fly as a member of the world famous Red Arrows. When the Team has completed their display next Sunday, they will land at RAF Shawbury and return to Cosford to meet the public on the ground."

This has also been confirmed on the Reds Site

http://www.raf.mod.uk/reds/teamnews/ind ... 5D3402BB60

"The Team has been granted its Public Display Authority (PDA) and will be allowed to perform at events starting from this weekend.

The Royal Air Force Aerobatic’s Team first UK appearance for the 2010 season will be The Queen’s Birthday Flypast in London this Saturday (12 June), followed by a display at the Cosford Air Show in Shropshire on Sunday (13 June).

Red 1, Squadron Leader Ben Murphy, says: “We are delighted that we are able to start our display programme a week earlier than we previously planned. Our revised training schedule went well and we are all looking forward to starting the 2010 season.”

Hi Guys

Thinking of attending for the first time could someone give me a heads up on the photography aspect.

Looking on Google, looks like statics and crowd on the north side so photographing into the sun?

Access to the base parking from where? Does not appear to be any obvious area for parking.

Gates open at 08:30 any point in arriving well before or do you just get moved on?

Any info appreciated.

Cheers
Martin

Hi mate!

With regards to the photography I have found no problems. You have Aircraft ( Mainly the Warbirds ) Taxying by you on the Grass down the display line. I find it good for photography :thumb: ( Im still quite new to it though  )

Carparking wise they park cars all down the airfield between the hangars and the Display line. They have it well organised with lanes and marshalers :thumb:

With regards to the gates opening me and my father normally queue and follow the traffic and they seem to get everything moving at some point! :thumb:

I hope that helps somehow mate!!
Cheers

For anyone attending tomorrow - GR.4s have had to cancel their practice as they have been tasked to perform a funeral flypast. Now scheduled to arrive at Shawbury at approx 15.40.

funeral flypast
The funeral is of Squadron Leader Peter Boggis DFC RAF, who was the first pilot of the Stirling ‘MacRobert’s Reply’. He passed away recently aged 91.

Anyone any ideas if the Lanc is going to be at Cosford? Just found this on the RAF site....
Unfortunately the Lancaster is unable to take part in the Queens Birthday Flypast on Saturday 12 June 2010 as following a routine check it has been found that due to normal wear and tear one of the undercarriage struts needs to be replaced. Due to the age of the aircraft this could not be made and fitted in time for the Flypast on Saturday. However, it is hoped that the aircraft will be back in the air, completing planned displays within a week.

I had not heard anything until I read this

Three GR.4s in to Shawbury plus the spare Hawk (not display marked as one is broken).

Role demo for the graduation was nice to see - as were the Puma and two Chinook HC3s.
