4,000 were sold last year, 16,000 so far this year, thats a huge amount.... In fairness I think the weather has helped.

For those going via the M54, there are some Average Speed Cameras just by J2 in both directions with a 50mph limit due to roadworks (Well there were on Thursday night anyway). So keep your feet off the gas !
However, it may be optimistic thinking the traffic will be flowing that well anyway.
Cheers,
Phil

Dilemma, didnt buy online tickets, then found out the tickets would be very limited on the gate for on the day sales, :grr: has anybody turned up before early (6.30am)ish to wait for the gates to open? and if so is this frowned upon? i.e blocking the entrance road in?

I know its my own fault but looking for advice to ensure i attend this year with weather being so nice :Wow:

I've gone on the day in the past & turned up just as the gates opened & got tickets no problem.. but that was 4 years ago & wasn't as sunny

There is an alternative if you don't mind a 15-20 minute walk on to base and that is to park up at the Crown Pub in Albrighton, the carpark is not owned by the pub itself and it's free!

Cosford won't be turning away pedestrians, I think I'm right in saying that they have an 18,000 carpark limit on the airfield which is the main problem in getting in if by all accounts it's a bumper crowd!

By the time you walk back to Albrighton the worst of the traffic will be over!

Cheers
Tim

No on the gate ticket sales today at Cosford. The website says if you do not have a ticket you will be turned away

f16fighter,

It DOES NOT say you will be turned away, if you arrive on foot.
It clearly states that it is the number of vehicles that is the problem, not people.

Correct,

Nothing was said about on foot above.

I was going but due to Wife's ill health couldn't go. if you read facebook here is one comment(and there is a lot of them!!) we made the right choice

"we was stuck on the M54 since 8.15 this morning with 3 upset children. we was still on the motorway at 12.30 when we decided to turn back. there was no trafic control and the information on the radio was poor. there should be a lane for ticket holders and all the people who did not have tickets should have gone home and not be able to get to the entry as this has caused the issues. we will be claiming for a full refund. this has been a waste of a lovely sunday

Sat in back Garden as only 20 miles from Welshpool Air Show got to see the Typhoon doing a couple of Barrel Rolls over us before running in to Display.

The positioning of RAF Cosford, or it's holding capacity is not the problem, it is the small feed roads and the requirement for flow off main roads and the M54.
It is a well known issue (certainly for the 5yrs of Airshows when I was stationed on the base).
I used to walk or cycle from the unit through the small roads.
my advice... If your not in by 1000 - forget it.
UK ONS CPI Rate checker for Sept every year...

Attempted to leave at 16.15 and finally got out of the car park at 18.45. Sat for well over an hour and didn't move an inch. Once off the grass traffic flowed with no problems.
Don't think I'll be going back by car!

Other than that, great day

I've been going to Cosford for years. Unless the weather is really bad, getting out by car is not possible until after 18.00hrs. Somebody should have this fact displayed on all the tickets and adverts.
People were trying to escape at 16.00, I had one idiot who drove over my bivvy with 2 5year old boys inside it......Luckily they weren't hurt and he ended up sitting for an hour and half by the fence annoying everyone else......I'd like to meet him down a dark alley!!
On a positive note, the show wasn't too bad considering it's Cosford air show. But.....No single hawk display, no tornado and I'd better not think of the thought of an F-15 (As many of the people there, hear them going over most days here and don't really get chance to look at one properly). I thought the Reds were faultless!!
