Should be a good afternoon out for all,I will be there.
I have noticed though that just about all that are displaying at Cosford are displaying at the police airshow at Throckmorton the day before, handy if you can`t make Cosford

I was , till I realised it's my wedding aniversary and SWMBO would have gone ballistic !! (She'd even given me permission to go , without realising it was our 'special day' herself !!)
Jim Bowen, on "Bullseye" :- In which state of the U.S.A. is Dallas, Texas ??
Re: Cosford Airshow 2011
I'll be there with a bus full of cadets (wave at the 1181 bus & we'll wave back) . Really looking forward to it, line-up looks pretty decent.

I was going to give Cosford a go this year - but it looks like the weather will not be playing game - the forecast for Sunday is not looking good at all.
Re: Cosford Airshow 2011
Well if the weather we've got here is moving North you're got going to see much flying today!

Re: Cosford Airshow 2011
Report from Mr. Phill318 is that the airfield is packed!
3 Twin Stick Jags lined up inside, and XX119 outside nice and clear for photos.

Re: Cosford Airshow 2011
Well what a wet day. I'm not going to complain too much as I knew what the weather was going to be like and the organisers did as much as they could to get stuff in the air. In the end the mil stuff we had was the black cats, hawk (looks a good display even when its flat!), 8 reds with no synchro and one tornado doing the role demo. For me the best part of the show was the hangars. All of them were open with jags lined up either side and some of them with hydraulics on. Despite the weather it was still packed and its just a shame the weather didn't play ball

Re: Cosford Airshow 2011
Hi Guys,
just returned from a 200 mile round trip, in really s**t weather conditions.
All I'm saying is I'm glad I didn't pay for my tickets as what was there wasn't spectacular, what didn't arrive wasn't a surprise (BBMF, Hurri bomber, Vulcan), only 8 of the Sparrows got there and did their best in very poor conditions.
We stayed until the RAF Extra's did their best to entertain, in dismal conditions before heading home.
So thoughts.
Positive
- access into and out of the airfield was very well done and any queue jumpers were soon stopped.
- open hangars to take temporary shelter from the weather.
- repair aircraft open to view.
Negative
- nothing of interest flew at all.
- the Airshow radio service knew oh fudge all about what was happening.
- nothing of interest in the static.
I know the purse strings are being tightened all the time but I don't think I'll bother with another large UK show and would rather save a few more pennies and visit a single European show per year and spend my available time in doing the small civy stuff, that may include some military or ex-military stuff.
That's the 4th show that I've tried to attend in recent years that's been scuppered by the weather.
If you collect serials then the show would be OK but, if like me you don't and just like to shoot the stuff then it was a waste of time, effort and expense in travel.
Regards
Reggie

Re: Cosford Airshow 2011
Firstly I just want to give a massive round of applause to the Organisers, the Marshalls, the Young ATC members, The RAF Regiment, The RAF Cosford Band, The Students of DCAE Cosford and all the staff who tried very hard to give everyone who attended the Cosford Air Show 2011 a great day out.
I want to also offer my sincere thanks all the Pilots and Ground & Air crews of the aircraft who put up with the weather and who put a large amount of effort in trying to salvage some of the line up for the Air display on a persistantly rainy day. Thanks for flying
On a not so wet day I would not have gone into the hangars, but since it was wet and raining I did and the amount of demo's information and aircraft in these not generally opened to the public hangars was absolutely wonderful. It was wonderful to see A Harrier GR3, Jags of different variants, A GR1 tornado, and I was utterly gobsmacked to see the tailfin of ZD937 it was the Tornado I captured on my first SLR at my first Farnborough show in 1986 and I think it was an F2 not an F3 Tornado it brought back some great memories. Just in case for those who do not have a clue why the 1986 show was notable that was because that year we seen the BAe EAP which later was developed, evolved and was given the Title Euro Fighter.
I think for £19 it was a well worth it day out, my only complaint is for the guy who had one of those motorised wheelchairs giving me a bruised and scraped shin when trying to race through hangar one
At least the didn't cancel like RIAT did in 2008, I dearly hope that they have raised a large amount of charity donations from the event .
Hope 2012 has better weather
