Hello
I am going to be on holiday in your area during week commencing either the 15-08-16 or the 22-08-16 and I would like to no what to expect to see flying. :) :thumb:

Unfortunately the base is on restricted operating hours during August, although you can still expect to see some flying (mainly from the Merlins and Sea Kings in my experience) when the airfield is open (which can vary from day to day). :)

Many Thanks Kyle.
Would the operating hours you mentioned have anything to do with the school summer holidays and would this apply to RNAS Yeovilton as well. :(

I would imagine "yes" and "yes".

This NOTAM for Yeovilton does seem to have a bearing (I can't see a similar one for Culdrose)

As a regular to the area in August, I can confirm that generally the skies are very quiet during the period. The only regular used to be the 771sqn sea kings but sadly that is now a thing of the past :-(
Im heading up there w/c Monday 15th August so if it helps Ill drop a line on here to say what's up and about ?

I was camping in Predannack last week and it was relatively quiet, but seemed to come alive a little more at night..

Also, on thursday, there was quite a lot of Jet activity in the area. Sadly, I didn't have my camera so I couldn't see what was flying!

There were hawks up and about but very little else. An AEW sea king did a few circuits of the Hayle area but I saw hardly anything at all last week :-(

I know you've already been and gone, but for other visitors. The main thing to see at Predannack would be the RC planes and choppers. Pretty much all villages in the area get a flypast of 101 on Christmas day with Santa Claus hanging out of door and waving.
