Culdrose 2015 Air Day

Post by raptor309 » Sat Aug 01, 2015 12:06 pm

Can anyone help out with s/n's for the following please:
The Sea Kings and Merlins (?) that were parked over by Hangar B4 (I think they were the ones taking part in the flying display)
The Chinook
The Lynx
The Hunter
The 3 Gnats
Cheers.
Robert

Chinook was ZA712,
Lynz was XV731,
Hunter was G-BXFI,
Gnats were G-MOUR, G-RORI and G-TIMM
Flypast Merlins and Sea Kings were XV673, ZA166, XZ920, ZE422, ZH843, ZH832 and ZH834

Hope this helps :)

Note the Lynx coded 311 is XZ 731 not XV.

No problem, did any one ID the Harrier by the two Wessex helos as I could not see a tail ID. Also any ID's on the two Hawks that flew through with the Sea King / Merlin / Lynx / Wildcat formation ? I will post a Log when I have time.

The spare MB339 "55" that left on it's own after the main display was the pilot heading home for the birth of his and his wifes baby which was due

Unfortunately I didn't note that Harrier's serial on the preview day as if I remember right it was swarmed by all the other photographers

The Hawks, along with (I hope) every other aircraft present at Air Day are in a list I made here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... rJeLQ/edit :)

Wessex XT 771 (PO) - By hangars behind the flight deck hangars.
Wessex XT 761 (B) - As above
Harrier FR2 xxx - As above (in sane livery as ZH 802)
Merlin - as above possibly ZF 641 Need confirmation on this one (note no rotor blades fitted)

ZH 797 (97) - Flight deck stand area but not used and put away very quickly whilst the other three were doing ground taxi display.
ZH 501, 502, 503 - as above

ZH 500 - Static display by Hawk XX 157

Thanks, have added all the ones in the main show area, although ZH500 is ZZ500 as are the other Avengers :)

The ones for the Dummy Deck are at the bottom of a separate separate list I had made for the preview event the day before, I think it should tie up some of yours. The Merlin is indeed ZF641. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing

Sorry you are correct Avengers ZZ 500 - 503 not ZH. Thanks for the Merlin confirmation. Is the bagged up Wessex the one right by the hangar with part of the front end sticking out ?

Just to add that when we were walking around just after 9 am the 736 Sqn Hangar was open, inside were 5 Hawks. XX217. XX261. XX316 849. Plus 2 u/d [one "looked like" XX161"]. Sorry if I,ve missed these being posted.

Hi Timb if you look at Kyle's link it gives a (we think ) almost complete log and the two UI Hawks you list are identified there. p thanks for the Wessex confirmation Kyle.
