Friends Of Duxford

Post by gibson617 » Thu Aug 28, 2014 8:42 pm

I am thinking of joining the Friends of Duxford and have read that they have a viewing enclosure on the flightline for airshows and was wondering if anyone knows about this . I have been to the Gold Pass enclosure for legends a few times and would be interested to know how the Friends enclosure compares ? Going to the show on 14th September so any help would be greatly appreciated .

I've been a member for a couple of years and think it's good value if you are a Duxford regular because you get free entry to the museum, money off for air shows, and discounts at the shop and cafe. They also organise various club events but I've not been able to attend any of those. The enclosure is a pleasant place to watch the show from, with free drinks, good toilet facilities etc. However, I don't find it good for photography. It's situated at the extreme western end of the enclosure line, close to the Classic Flight tent. It's adjacent to the main taxiway, but the front row of seats isn't close enough to the barrier so the top of this tends to get in the way. If you stand up to take a shot, you get shouted at! Because of this, I tend not to use it. However, if you're not bothered about taking pictures, it's good enough. Hope this is useful.

Hi Gibson, we have been members for a few years now and think it is really good value, a nice day out, doesn't matter what the weather is like, always got the collections and renovation workshops, really interesting stuff, pay your money and enjoy..
If you can keep your head whilst all around are losing theirs, you have probably completely misread the situation!!
