They were hoping to have the Blenheim flying for the Legends show and it still hasn't flown yet.

Hello , I'm planning on attending Duxford on the 14th Sept, it'll be my first visit there. Can anyone advise me on parking or how early I have to be there, any tips for a newbie would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Crawfy

This is how I normally do things... I arrive at Duxford for 0800am on a show day and head straight for the car park opposite the museum as follows,

Leave M11 at Junction 10, drive down past the museum entrance and the pole mounted Hurricane, drive under the footbridge that crosses over the main road and then turn immediately right.

The road will be coned showing you the direction to follow and an attendant will be there to direct you further.

Once parked up on the grass, it is a short walk to the pay kiosks and then up and over the footbridge you drove under on your way in, this footbridge takes you straight over the main road and on to the airfield.

Further Tips.

You now have from 0800am to 1400pm to do the following before the flying display starts at 1430pm.

There is a flight line walk available during the morning for around £4 this allows you close access to the display aircraft but make sure you do this first as it closes at 1200 noon.

If you do the flight line first, you can then exit at the bottom and head straight for the American Air Museum and from here visit all the other hangars back up to the main hangar at the museum entrance.

Once you have finished the hangars, you can start at on the stalls... which are very unique at Duxford as almost all are aviation related, follow the stalls back down to the American Air Museum.

If it as all gone to plan, you will now have time to pop in to the American Air Museum for a nice coffee and a bit of cake before heading back to the airfield to pick your viewing point.

There are two areas I like to view from which are as follows,

The Tank Bank

This is at the Land Warfare hangar which is sited just beyond the American Air Museum and is a grass bank that you can stand on to view the display, it is elevated so you get a good look at the airfield.

Airspace hangar

This is the large silver hangar at the main museum entrance and is a great place to get the top shots of the aircraft as they fly by, if the weather is good the light on the aircraft is brilliant for both still photography and video / cam corders.

I hope you find this useful and it helps you plan your day.

Hope you have a great day.

All the best rgds

You forgot the bit about going down the M11 end and annoying the photographers down there. :D

I never saw the Dunsfold display, but I am wondering... Is 558 doing a flypast with the Gnats, and then going into her usual full display routine, or will her display be a shortened version to accommodate the Gnats?

And there's plenty more where that came from!
