I use the train from Wokingham (train starts at Reading). Very easy with free shuttle buses to and from the airfield from the station.

Used this for a number of years, I tend to go on the Friday.

RAF Typhoon display have tweeted that they will not be displaying at Farnborough this year but have said that BAe Systems will provide a role demo.

Seems bizarre? :S

Info re local area closures during the flying display.

Farnborough International have asked that a small portion of the Canal between Eelmoor and Norris Bridges be closed during flying hours at this year’s Farnborough Airshow. This is as a result of new safety regulations introduced following the Shoreham Airshow crash last year restricting low level flying. As a major event supporting the national economy Hampshire County Council and Basingstoke Canal Authority are happy to support Farnborough International so that they can comply with the new regulations brought into place following the CAA final report from their Civil Air Display Review.
A joint press release from Farnborough International and Hampshire County Council has now been issued on the Farnborough International website http://www.farnborough.com

Q: Where will the Canal be closed?
A: The Canal and towpath from a point just east of Eelmoor Bridge to a point just west of Norris Bridge will be closed as part of the Airshow perimeter during the hours of flying on 4 - 9 July (noon to approx. 4.30pm) and 11 - 17 July (noon to approx. 5.30pm).
Q: Why weren’t Canal users consulted?
A: Farnborough International are reacting to changes in national safety regulations made by the Civil Aviation Authority which have only recently been finalised; it wasn’t until April that we were aware that there would be an implication for the Canal, unfortunately that meant there was no time to conduct any form of consultation before the decision had to be made about this year’s Airshow.
Q: Will I be able to stand on the towpath, or on a moored boat between Eelmoor and Norris Bridges to watch the flying displays?
A: No – the area will be secured by the Airshow’s security team. Safety regulations mean that no-one is allowed in this area during the flying displays.

Is there an actual list on the website of all the static/flying aircraft? It just seems to show a select few, I'm particularly interested in what's due to fly on the trade days if anyone has any information. Many thanks in advance.

I think it's time for another airfield to host farnborough. Situation isn't going to change.

I think the business side don't want the inconvenience of show week...and have done for a number of years.

dave...

Which I am sure would delight FIA after they spent a shed load of money on show / conference facilities!

G-OSRA B727 T2Aviation (Oil Spill Response) now on descend to FAB. Should land in about 10-15 minutes.

Is there any info when it will ferry back to Doncaster after the show? Thanks in advance!

Fantastic shots.

I have not been to Farnborough before, so looking for a bit of advice...

Where is the best place to go today or tomorrow to photograph the planes (the air display, not static ones) ?

Were your shots taken from a public access area, or are you part of the trade show?

Many thanks,
Antony

Well, Yes except for a short but very severe rain storm around 2pm!

As for the actual displays, I was not very impressed today - bit of a mix between what the FIA that we have come to expect was on previous occasions and a moderately good Duxford show. Don't think I will go to a weekend show at Farnborough again - next time, if ever I go, it will be on a Friday
(only 3 fast and noisy military jets today!)
