Waddington Airshow 2014
I know its a long way off but I am planning ahead and was wondering if next years show date is planned
Re: Waddington Airshow 2014
The posters near the exit of this years show gave the date as 5th and 6th July 2014
We were talking with some Police on Saturday and they were under the impression there wouldn't be a show next year. Runway renewal has been mentioned previously. Looks likely there will be a show if they were giving dates out.

Posh are going to Wembley (albeit for a tin cup)

To be fair, based on their traffic management this year, I'm not sure they knew there was one this year until Thursday morning!Gary wrote:We were talking with some Police on Saturday and they were under the impression there wouldn't be a show next year.
Re: Waddington Airshow 2014
After the show on Sunday, Airshow FM were asking one of organisers when they started planning for the next show, to which he replied: "planning was well under way for the 2014 Waddington Airshow"

I travelled to Waddington and back each day Thursday through Monday, the only day we had problems was Saturday morning. It's not the Lincs Police's traffic management that is the problem. It's our Yellow Belly (Lincolnshire) roads. Despite the best efforts of everyone at the A15 (Sleaford Road) entrance, the queue of traffic ended up single file after leaving the ticket booths and just ground to a halt.

Damn irresponsible people building an operational airfield and giving no thought to a robust, supporting road network for an air show period...
UK ONS CPI Rate checker for Sept every year...

Re: Waddington Airshow 2014
I guess RIAT has brought theirs forward a week because of Farnborough?
Re: Waddington Airshow 2014
Do you think Waddington will try to get some RIAT participants then?

Re: Waddington Airshow 2014
Dates will be very interesting, as Legends/Yeovilton usually share the weekend before RIAT - are we in for a fixture pile up?!

If Exercise Indra Dhanush taking place in 2014, it might be a case of RIAT wanting some participants that Waddington might haveJason32 wrote:Do you think Waddington will try to get some RIAT participants then?

Re: Waddington Airshow 2014
Yeovilton will publish a date for their 2014 show around august. It will not be the same date as RIAT or Waddington.
Re: Waddington Airshow 2014
According to the TFC website Legends clashes with RIAT next year (12th and 13th July 2014)Dunk wrote:Dates will be very interesting, as Legends/Yeovilton usually share the weekend before RIAT - are we in for a fixture pile up?!

Re: Waddington Airshow 2014
RIAT publish their intended dates years in advance, so theres no real need for airshows to clash, other than its their tradional dates - shouldnt be a reason why others cant move?

Re: Waddington Airshow 2014
I've always wondered this. Why does the majority of the airshow "season" have to be three weekends in July? Why not spread it out across June, July and August?Dunk wrote:RIAT publish their intended dates years in advance, so theres no real need for airshows to clash, other than its their tradional dates - shouldnt be a reason why others cant move?

Re: Waddington Airshow 2014
RIAT is not the only one to work out their dates well in advance Waddington does too and I would imagine most of them do them same, that way they can make sure all the support businesses know where they stand and when their services will be required.
I suppose there's 2 ways of looking when they are held. If RIAT was in August for example would the Black Eagles have stuck around to display then? - I doubt it. I suppose the advantage of having them held together is you stand a better chance of getting something from further away if they can do 3 - big shows in a smaller amount of time.
Just my thoughts.
