Has anyone else noted that Waddington 2012 and Flying Legends are both on the same weekend (30thJune/1st July 2012)? :O
darn magical bit of planning, especially for anyone who was hoping to go to both!! :grr: :grr: :@ :'(

Hi merlin-man

I think the change to Flying Legends date is something to do with the London 2012 Olympics.

Thanks Tim,
I guess its gonna be Waddo one day and Duxford the next, at least I live between the two so its about an equal distance to both

Yes very bad planning I have done both shows for the last few years, Grandsons birthday in the mix as well. Legends should have gone to last weekend in June

I believe that Lowestoft were possibly looking at these dates aswell?

Sadly we will all play second fiddle to the Olympics. I think 2012 will be a very frustrating year.

Frustrating indeed ! And I have just seen elsewhere on Fighter Control that there will be no Culdrose Air Show in 2012 ...........it all goes from bad to worse.

Was even worse in 2008 wheb Legend's and RIAT clashed on the same weekend and then RIAT was cancelled! Still, this is quite annoying. Best way of looking at it is that both display's may have some extra participants flying from show to show which would be nice!

As been said the clash is due to the air restrictions that will be in place when the Olympics kick off.
Duxford and Waddo being just before all the mayhem starts.

The Olympics and Diamond Jubilee has certainly put a spanner in the works.

We usually book our holidays and accommodation to go to a function the first weekend in June as thats when it is every year. Managed to get the holiday dates I wanted from work.
Then found out the function is the following weekend due to the Jubilee.

Flickr aircraft sets include Bruntingthorpe, Duxford, Sywell, Newark, BBMF, Lakenheath, Mildenhall, RAF and general Aircraft.
Thanks for looking.

What assets would Waddington have, apart from the BBMF, that could appear at Legends, which is a war bird show.

That's a fair old trek (80 miles ish as the crow flies..) for a warbird to do then display and possibly fly back again, especially seeing as Legends doesn't start till 2pm. Sounds more like wishful thinking to me

I'm not "slapping you down" I was just pointing out it's a lot to ask of a warbird. Whoever told you about it seems to be in direct conflict with what one of the airshow organisers said on UKAR

I can say with full confidence that is very unlikely Craig, perhaps a trip to Legends may be better if you want to see all of those! Legends is the same weekend so lots of warbirds such a those will be there.
