Red Arrows bird strike at Waddington

Post by sashobest » Tue Jul 08, 2014 8:25 am

The Red Arrows pilot Flight Lieutenant James McMillan involved in bird strike incident during Saturday's 5 July display at Waddington International Air Show. Red 6, a synchro leader at the team, hit a bird at the very last moments of the airshow and missed just the final flypast from the display.

Interesting. On Sunday they said the Reds were doing an extra flypast but one had had to go back to Scampton and there were only 8 of them.

The ladder/footrest came out on the rear seater position of one of the synchro pair jets. I have several pictures where it is clearly visible in the extended position. I was expecting him to peel away from the display sooner to be honest.
