USAF at RIAT

Post by grimly aviation pics » Wed Jun 13, 2012 7:00 pm

Hi guys I'm coming to RIAT for the 1st time this year. To me there doesn't seem a lot from the USAF participating ie Raptor, B1 which with Farnborough this year aswell I thought it would be a little better from the yanks or do they usually come in last minute. Many thanks Paul

There might be a few more coming in but bear in mind the US are in severe cost cutting mode with their budgets at the mo. The Raptor I believe is displaying only in the US. Farnborough is predominantly a trade show and I would suspect they will only send planes there that they can sell eg Hornets and Ospreys.
Cheers,

FIA is a trade show supported by the USDoD they choose exactly what USAF/USN/USMC assets they want to display in a "show of strength" type way, hence B52 flypast etc

RIAT is a normal airshow so gets what is available from USAF etc

ACC stated long ago that the F-22 would not be venturing abroad this year and cost cutting across the board has meant a reduction in what displays in the air and on the ground.
