Superb news re Couteau Delta - fantastic thunderous display with these powerful jets.
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2018 Discussion Thread
Just had a thought, with Bastille day being that weekend, it would not surprise me to find the French maybe limited or even individual days.

Trump is slated to visit on Friday the 13th July which is when the queen is supposed to be at riat
Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2018 Discussion Thread
Apparently Trump will meet the Queen during his 24 hour visit, will stay overnight at Chequers. Presumably will be arriving from the NATO Summit in Brussels which is 11/12 July.

Great few days of updates
Fantastic support from the French and glad to see the Rafale back. Supposedly Couteau Delta have a new routine so I am now actually looking forward to them.
Let's hope weather is so much better than the last few years and photography was hard work last year!

This is my first RIAT and first 'big' show since the late 80's so everything will be new to me..!

In some ways it would make sense for him to meet there. My reasoning behind that is because with it being a full military airshow plus the royal family in attendance security will already be everywhere so hosting the president wouldn't create a manpower nightmare.

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 2018 Discussion Thread
Very nice addition today:
Romanian Air Force MiG-21 LanceR will return to the Air Tattoo flying display this summer! After an absence of 17 years, last displaying at RAF Cottesmore at the 2001 Air Tattoo and on static display at the 2005 show, the MiG 21 will make the journey to the UK to join RAF100 celebrations.
Romania operates a fleet of around 25 of the aircraft, which are slowly being replaced by F-16s purchased from Portugal.
Romania's confirmation is another addition to a strong list of participating nations that confirms the 2018 Air Tattoo as the international celebration of RAF100.

Haha! I wanted to sound optimistic for once although I think I remember them cancelling before - 2010 maybe? But yes, I will try my hardest not to get too excited!Seahornet1 wrote:You've already ticked it off...? Sincerely hope your optimism is rewarded!Rotörhead wrote:Brilliant news! With it being Star Wars day, wonder if we can expect a surprise announcement? Belgian F-16 display, RAF 1(F) & IV Sqn all have links to Star Wars. Who have a chance of actually turing up

Somewhere around 1990 a Romanian Air Force Harbin H5 (IL28 bomber) was planned, confirmed, but didn't show up.Rotörhead wrote:Haha! Believe it had some technical issues( surprise) if my memory serves me well.

Think the Harbin H-5C, 310, was due at the 2001 RIAT at Cottesmore over the weekend 28/29 July. Unfortunately they wrote it off the week before the show.
