Moving between P&V East and West

Post by sneezy24 » Tue Jul 11, 2017 10:22 am

I will be at P&V on Thursday, not done arrivals before (been on Monday 3 years running, and always at East).

From Intellicast, it looks like the wind will be due South until around mid-day, then veer to SSE - SE - ESE during the afternoon.

So, if wind is South, will they use 27 or 09?? If 09, then I assume they will switch to 27 when the wind comes round.

If it is 09 in the morning, then I will go West P&V, how difficult is it to then drive to East if the runway changes??

Or do I just go to East??

TIA,

Mick

it's easy to drive, notwithstanding the amount of kit you have to cart back to your car!, just follow everyone else :)
As for the wind and active runway, just wait til it happens.

Thanks,

I'll travelling (fairly) light, all gear in one large back-pack (incl food!)

I'll check ATIS once in the area to decide which end to start at, I assume a 10 mins (or less) by car between the two?

Runway 27 is generally favoured for operational reasons, so there would have to be a significant easterly component to the wind before they would go on to 09. (Note that you seem to have your compass back to front - the wind swinging ESE would tend to move them onto 09, not 27. :) )

Probably fat fingers - E and W are next each other on the keybaord, and my ultra fast hunt and peck technique often causes hilarity....
