Park and View East Landing

Post by Headancer » Wed Jul 05, 2017 6:02 am

Yes, everyone wants the juicy landing shots on Park and
View East but do they roll far enough for the punters on Park and View West ?

Just looking for something a bit different!

I'm presuming you mean the other way round? Most aircraft roll full length but expect a few to vacate before they reach P&V West.

Predominant landing direction is in front of P&V east and ATC do ask them to roll right to the end and come off at P&V West

Yes many thanks it was Indeed landing from East. Correction a min later clearly got stuck.

Full frame if they roll to the end ?

I'm sure I saw some half decent images from here last year.

The viewing area is right on the edge of the taxiway similar distance away as the east end one is

Sorry for the hijack but is there plenty of space at the park and view arrivals to get some good shots? This is my 1st year at the arrivals although i have attended the show many times.

Looking at the wind direction for Wednesday and Thursday it might be on either 09 or 27. Does Fairford have a favored runway for things like noise abatement if there's a cross wind? It was my first year in 2016 and spent Wednesday and Thursday on P&V east. Would like to stick to landing shots and don't want to end up at the wrong end!

I was just about to ask the same question!
I've done 3 Monday departure days, always at P&V East. I'm doing Thursday as well this year. I suppose I find a lay-by on the A419, tune into ATIS and decide which one to go for? The wind looks to be south, veering south-west so I suppose 27 will be favourite (so P&V East for arrivals).

Also going on Saturday, letting the train take the strain!

Not this year, due to the large amount of static aircraft.

Static looks about the same size as last year to me!

Well that's not that many more when you consider how much empty space there was left last year! So if this fast jets parking thing is more than just a rumour, where are they parking them? Northside where in the past there's been heavy criticism because they can't be photographed or up the east where it is already (usually) pretty crowded? (I'm going to hazard a guess at it being east as it seems a bit lighter on the team side this year)

I'm probably going to stick to P&V East for Wednesday/Thursday.

Couteau Delta are due in Wednesday, so where ever they end up should be a good indicator for the rest of the arrivals. Ramex were in the green zone last year.

To access Park & View West is there a different entrance onto base or is it the same entrance as Park & View East?

Thanks

Different entrance. Believe the entrance to West P&V is used for the Green Car Park on show days.
