Rhymes
Re: Rhymes
Hi Andy don't think rhymes will reopen this year due to ongoing deal that was done with airtattoo in 2016 if I hear anything locally I will let you know at a later date.went to totterdown last year and had a great week!
Re: Rhymes
I would have thought they could open for departures day, no displays to worry about then.
Re: Rhymes
Seems like there will be no more Rhymes sadly. Many of the other campsites are just as good. Townsend for me again this year as it was enjoyable last year and under the flight path for landings/takeoffs. Got to see most displays most of the way through also.

Re: Rhymes
I spoke to the farmer last week and he confirmed again this year he is unable to open due to preasure from local authorities but had said he hopes it is not going to be permanent and would like at some point to be able to re-open in the future.
We get the same at cosford airshow a place i go each year a B&B that does have public liability has been visited by airforce police and have been told that they should remain closed for the day even though display line have been pushed away
I still as many others do think its a very over the top reaction accidents will happen they cannot be stopped it just ruins the day for thousands once grounds are full countless hundreds or thousand have to miss out.
From the report Mr pilot fast jet pilot forgot what plane he was flying

Shoreham Airshow crash: Pilot may have thought he was flying a different aircraft, investigators suggest
Re: Rhymes
Yes, a POSSIBILITY. Your first post made it sound conclusive, which it wasn't.

Re: Rhymes
My mistake you are right it is only one factor maybe? but all other findings were conclusive i agree with stopping traffic in the immediate having exclusion zones for say potential distractions.
I am just a firm believer that accidents will always happen pilot error or technical faults we are human and machines fail

Re: Rhymes
I agree, Liddy, but the Airshow industry will not survive another Shoreham. I've been around Airshows over much of the world for 57 years, and I felt that a disaster involving people outside of the event would eventually happen. Precautions now have to be taken to minimise this risk, otherwise you can kiss Airshows goodbye. We don't like much of these precautions, but the repercussions if these weren't taken would result in huge lawsuits etc.etc., if this happened again. It's no use now being wise after the event. Regards, John.
