Firstly, two requests. The USAF C-17 parked at the 27 end of the runway on the northside and a USAF bizjet that landed approx 0900-0930, both Sunday?
I enjoyed my visit to RIAT this year, plenty to see. For me the B-52, B-1 and my first view of a U-2 made the show for me. I enjoy the larger airtcraft.
I only caught the second half of the flying display because I was wandering around the static. Highlights for me was the Raptor and my first viewing of the B-2 Spirit
As for the Thunderbirds I was slightly underwhelmed. I thought they were neat and tidy but the display left me thinking 'is that it'.
I was disappointed that there were no airside/display aircraft on the west end of the green zone like last year. I fully understand that the static was larger than in previous years so more room was required.
On a personal note, I would have have none of the Piper's, Cessna's, Extra,s, Bronco & Skyvan. Moved the selection of RNethAF F-16's, Gripen, Belgian F-16's etc to where the Bronco/Skyvan etc were then put the Transall/Pak C-130 further down creating space for the French AF Mirage/Rafale, Solo Turk and other display aircraft.
I'm sure someone will come along and tell me why this can't be done.
An excellent day all round, the weather played ball until an hour before the end.
2019 my next RIAT.
