Yeah even on discount they are still £42.00 each. I personally don't mind as I love riat but I think it will ruffle a few feathers

Hi, new to the forum, seeking advice as went FRIAT this summer for the first time rather than standing at the showline, which was great except that the grandstand seating was really close to one another .... Is this the same grandstand arrangement every year as wondering whether to push the boat out again this year too with A Mach 2 package?

Thanks

It was mentioned by the FRIAT that the grandstand we had this year was not the correct one, I believe it will be the old one next year.

It's by far the best way to do the show, I've been doing it since 2013- never going back!

Great news, the awful grandstand from this year won't be back
Grandstand Improvements

Dear Air Tattoo Supporter

As you will be aware each year we ask for feedback about the Air Tattoo through our online visitor survey, comment cards and by talking to you at the event. We use this information to help shape our planning for the next show.

So, one of the main areas of comment from the 2016 show were the Grandstands in both the Viewing Village and the Friends of the Royal International Air Tattoo (FRIAT) Enclosure. We found that you much preferred the Grandstand structures we had in 2015 for a whole manner of reasons.

We are delighted to confirm we have now awarded the contract to the supplier that provided our Grandstands in 2015 so that we keep you, our customers, happy!
With regard to tickets for the Air Tattoo on 14-16 July 2017, we have already sold twice as many tickets as at the same point last year. So, if you haven’t yet done so please take a look at our ticket options HERE.

Many thanks for your support.

Just hoping the bottom rail of the grandstand stays as it did in 2016. In 2015 the grandstand was far better but the bottom front guard rail was just too high to shoot aircraft on the runway comfortably if you were sat on the bottom/front row, come 2016 the front bottom rail was only a few inches lower but it made all the difference but unfortunately that was about the only good point of the 2016 grandstand.

The group of people I go with also ask for the front row, this years rail was great as you said. If they can't have the rail low again, hoping they have that small step to the front row like they did 4 or 5? years ago which had the same effect

Hi Folks

Sorry to butt-in. Anyone know why I (& possibly others) cannot post on the Scampton thread?

Don't bust a gut replying, just looking for an answer. Have I been naughty? :S

I agree about the rail needing to be low enough for the front row seaters.

ROKAF Black Eagles have confirmed that they'll be performing at a foreign airshow next year, what's the chances of them returning to RIAT?

And perhaps more significantly as the theme is 70th anniversary of USAF - no Thunderbirds, but then I don't think that is too much of a surprise following their previously published schedule.

Presume you were told that they would be attending? They don't tend to announce an international appearances until later.

Seen posts in various places that the T-Birds won't be coming. Is this based on a definitive statement at the conference in the states the other day or because of the absence of an announcement/ they've said they have no plans/aren't currently engaged?

I was under the impression that when the 2017/18 dates were announced for the Thunderbirds at the International Council of Air Shows’ annual convention on 6th Dec that it was final. RIAT rumours no doubt originated from the convenient 'open dates' listed around the show weekend. Having said that I acknowledge international participation is often withheld until nearer the time, apparently for diplomatic reasons so I may yet be proven wrong. Although their attendance at RIAT would be fitting for the occasion, personally, having seen them three times in the UK I could happily forego their display for a selection of other US military hardware gracing the flying schedule.
