No F-35's F-18's???

Post by michael.p » Fri Jul 04, 2014 7:26 am

So now we know there wont be any F-35's but I haven't seen any thing about the F-18'S. Secondly does any one have a list of the frequencies for the show. It used to be at the head of the section but seems to have vanished.

Last I heard they were preparing to issue a 'check all aircraft' order after the F-35 engine fire. The check is supposed to take about 1.5-2 hours and is focusing on a defective engine part.

You would imagine the RIAT planes would be some of the first to go through the check if for nothing other than the PR issue it would cause.

The Super Hornet will be in the flying display, the aircraft are currently in Belgium, along with the Swiss Hornet and a Spanish Hornet will be on static display.

Nothing. Hornets are proper aircraft. F35's should have collars and be wormed every 3 months. Lol.

Well we don't in all honesty need this dog of a plane at RIAT, maybe a major sponsor called Lockheed Martin do, thats what it's all about really, isn't it? yes, we have real planes to stand in awe at, two Su-22 Fitters, A-7 Corsairs, F-18 Super Hornet, Typhoons, Vulcan... Oh hang on! :Wow:

And what does the DES or whatever it's called nowadays have to do with bringing F-35s to the UK?

You could make your mind up about whether they are or aren't coming, I suppose..? viewtopic.php?f=139&t=99998&p=630285#p630285

I would have thought DE&S would be quite knowledgeable and know the status of the grounding considering they are running the UK side of the project.

According to a news report on the bbc that was aired today , lockheed martin have said that 4 F-35,s would be appearing at Farnbourgh but not at Fairford , i did not see this report personally i was just told about it so i can not confirm its validity .
is anyone else able to add any substance to this story.

Boeing will have a good time promoting it's Super Hornet F-18 to those countries who are interested in the F-35 which is currently grounded.
