558 (424) has apparently been dragged back to Crewe after going u/s. Word on the wire is that it has suffered from quite a few problems since the refit and hasn't been the most reliable loco.

Needs new cylinder liners, apparently the power unit wasn't a refurbed one but taken from one of the soon to be disposed of locos.

68s ugly? Well. Not half as ugly as the old 67s. And they actually sound good double-headed with up to 40 Tescos on the draw-bar up the hills.

Power unit is ex 37682. Bogies are ex 37407 (itself currently undergoing major overhaul at RVEl).

37558/424 was released from Loram, Derby yesterday following repairs. Failed on the trip north however.
